# Overview

**Request to Pay (RTP)** is a bank-initiated payment request that a merchant can create and send to a customer through the bank’s mobile app. Instead of asking the customer to enter card data or scan a QR, the merchant creates an RTP with the payment details (amount, currency, description, expiration, etc.).

The customer receives a secure prompt in the bank app and can **Accept** or **Reject** the request. When the payment is executed, the merchant receives a **server-to-server callback** containing the payment outcome and the core payment attributes needed to fulfill the order.
